April 7, Dock Chat

Not much chatting on the dinghy dock Saturday the 7th, but lots of scrubbing, sorting, list-making, tallying and carrying equipment around. It was dinghy and dock cleanup day, mastered by Alex O and carried out by a crew of about 25 helpers. All those bow scruff marks from bumping into the dock, gone. More people space found on the organized dock, life jackets dry and fresh smelling, and the cabinets tidied up so we can easily locate what we need. Thanks to everyone for helping in spring cleaning. Now we’re ready for the sailing season. Next week, April 12-15 is the Strictly Sail boat show at Jack London Square, Oakland, so we won’t be able to sail a nice clean dinghy for another week. However, come visit BAADS at booth 892, near the Food Court. There will be a clean dinghy out of the water there.
Next dinghy sailing will be Saturday April 21 with our monthly dinghy races. Sign up and join the fun with 303s and Liberties. Rear Commodore, Walt Rainieri, has compiled a list of races in which BAADS members might be interested in participating. The list appears in At the Favored End, a periodic newsletter of the BAADS Race Committee. At the Favored End is distributed among BAADS members every month or so. BAADS Race Committee is looking for experienced race officers to be the Principal Race Officer and Regatta Race Director for several upcoming national north American and world Access dinghy races. These are two different positions to be filed by two different people with suitable experience. Contact Walt at wtr1977@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer on the BAADS Race Committee, submit your name as a candidate for principal race officer or regatta race director for any upcoming race, or propose any additions to the At the Forward End.
