Alma Schooner
Save the date! On Saturday, August 25, BAADS will embark on its annual sail on the historic schooner Alma. Sailing on Alma has been a long tradition for BAADS members. The last of her kind, Alma is an 1891 National Historic Landmark scow schooner. The flat-bottomed hull was designed to navigate the shallow waters of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta and rest on the bottom at low tide. With few bridges and connecting roads, scow schooners delivered goods all over the Bay and Delta much as trucks do today. The so everyone is welcome to attend.
