Every Weekend
RAIN OR SHINE
At Pier 40, the South Beach Marina at Townsend and Embarcadero, San Francisco, BAADS does what BAADS does best: Teach the Sunday Sail Class: Please call sailmail for reservations 415- 281-0212. Otherwise availability is based on first come first served. We meet at the JAVA House just before noon almost every Sunday 12 months of the year except between Christmas and New Years. Usually we are out for about 3- 5 hours, depending upon the boat you sail and the comfort of the crew. Class is informal, participation is voluntary but encouraged. Some sailors on board are preparing for passing their ASA certification. The wind and currents determines where we sail. We could stay in the South Bay sailing along San Francisco’s old shipyards heading towards the Hunters Point area; towards the East Bay, traveling down the Oakland Estuary; around Treasure Island; along San Francisco’s waterfront; around Angel Island with lunch at the Corinthan Yacht Club, or out under the Golden Gate Bridge. After returning to South Beach Harbor we ask everyone to help put the boats away and come up to the yacht club for a drink and great conversation about their day’s sail. Bring a lunch if you want and a camera to show off what the landlubbers have missed! Very seldom does anyone get seasick, and if this should happen we will return to the Harbor. The whole idea is to have fun, make new friends and learn skills that can be transferred over to other aspects of their lives.
Every Sunday unless notified is Keel Boat sailing at 12 noon - reservations strongly suggested. Call Ed Gallagher 415 641-8343

A live hot Jazz band made it a really fun afternoon that rolled into early evening.
November:
November Thanksgiving 2007:
The food is legendary. All SBYC is invited. South Beach member Jane Ramos forgot her apron last year, but cooked all day for the third year with us at Thanksgiving. In 2006 David Coneley tended bar and several members drank Cosmos garnished with fresh cranberries. The conveniences of the new galley with its GIANT NEW DISHWASHER made the entire day, even the clean up, a pleasure.
December:
December 16th:
BAADS Christmas meeting and dinner. The day starts with sailing, after the boats come in the food is very good. The gift exchange is famous for both great nautical personal items and wacky re-gifts. Last year our Commodore got an electric dog that humps legs and one lucky sailor got a really nice rigging knife.
